Report on the National Senior Olympics

We just wanted to share this note with all the badminton players concerning our Top Flight President, Bob Ericson. The next time you see him, tell him congrats!!

Here are the results of Bob’s trip to the National Senior Olympics in Louisville, 22-25 June. He won a silver medal in the 60-64 age division with his MD partner from Colorado Springs. enroute to the finals they beat teams from Arizona, North Carolina, and Florida-then lost to a team from Colorado in the finals 15-21, 19-21. Lots of people watched the match.


Overall, there were 16 MD teams in the 60-64 age division. Sixteen courts were used (10 for tournament play, six for practice) They played on what was called Sport Court. 36 squares wide and 68 squares long, interlocking: 2,448 for one court were laid out over the cement floor. Competition was at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center (something like the Qwest Center). For all the badminton age divisions there were slightly over 350 competitors.
